Those who know Ron Scofield would say he was born at least 100 years too late. He’s made it work for him here at his Red Mule Ranch outside of Fiddletown. Here he restores old wagons and keeps the place up like a small western town. He acts as an intermediary between today and the days of the 19th century. In 1976 he and his wife Marie sold everthing, even the ranch, to cross the U.S. in a covered wagon to celebrate the Bicentennial. Seeing nothing they liked quite as much as the Red Mule, due to a fluke, they were able to buy it back., Fiddletown, CA
